300 - 6 starter

a bit of information that may be basically useless. i have a 300 6 cyl in my 64 4X4 and the starter went out. went to my local parts store bought a new one. installed it , wouldn't turn over the engine. kinda like a dead battery. replaced the selonoid, cables ,and battery, still didn't work. took the starter back and made them give me a new one. still didn't work. by now i'm not very happy. Beer. took the new starter apart, took the bendix and the bendix cap of it and installed it on a starter for a 390. works just fine now. so i think that all these starters are the same except for the bendix and mounting bracket. and my local parts store reselling junk. dutch

Dutch and ALL forum users. The site owner has directed that any complaints against a merchant/supplier be taken up with that ententy and not be allowed to be displayed on the site. I simply changed the name of that supplier and did not change your post.

Please if you have an issue with this action direct it to one of the site admins or to FTEJason the company admin.

I am only doing my job.
