Hi,
New here, read alot but haven't found anything that refers to my problem. Would really appreciate some help."94 F150 300 6cyl.Started the truck, backed up, went about 5 feet and it died. Won't start, turns over, but no fire. Replaced the ignition module, still no fire. A friend plugged into the computer, but said it wasn't responding. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
When you first turn on the ignition, do you hear the 2 second buzz from the fuel pump(s) charging the fuel rail? If you do, then the EEC probably isn't dead. The EEC's are unbelievably tough in my experience.
One thing that can cause a no-spark condition is a failed TPS (throttle position sensor), or a broken ground wire going to the TPS. This will cause a possible WOT (wide open throttle) indication, which will inhibit the pulses to the fuel injectors, and prevent the truck from starting. If you sprayed starting fluid or throttle body cleaner in it, though, it should start if you're getting spark.
The EEC power relay may also be failed, or loose in the socket. This would possibly cause the EEC to fail to respond to KOEO (Key On Engine OFF) testing.
