Finished swapping out a bad 5.0 out of a '94 F150 5.0 4x4 Auto. I replaced it with a junkyard motor out of a '95. I know for one the firing order is different. Part numbers on dissys are the same so I routed the wires for the '94 model. the motor has a broken knock sensor I guess from when the junkyard removed it but I was so desprate to see if we could get the truck to fire. It started right up, ran rear rough. Is it bad that I started it up with no knock sensor and let it run for less than a minute? Is this why the motor was shaking so bad and running so rough? or is it the fact of the firing order?
I havn't checked timming or anything like that yet...
Doubt the shaking is from the knock sensor. The firing order should be the same on both motors. Double check the wires, sounds like you may have them mixed up. Are the plugs dist & rotor in good shape?

plugs looked good, i've capped them to .044 cap and rotor look good.
I didn't do any damage to the truck with the knock sensor being broken and unpluged right? It shook as soon as it fired up on its own.
not saying the plug gap is why the truck is running rough, but the plug gap should be .052-.056 on a 95 motor, that's what is says on the sticker under the hood of my 95. If you changed firing orders, this is probably the reason for the engine running rough.

No damage should of happened with knock sensor noy hooked up. Unless motor was detonating while reving, then you could've did some damage. Knock sensor retards timing when it senses detonation.
Did you use the injectors from the 95 motor?? They might be dirty??? One or more could be clogged and dirty and not supplying enough fuel..
I didnt even know there was a knock sensor, my 5.8 doesnt have one. Id recheck your firing order, then id ck your injectors, start with the simple stuff, computer might have to relearn new engine.

I should give the '95 Firing order a try now? I mean this thing was shakin bad, not just running rough.
So the oringal motor couldent have been destroyed from a broken knock sensor?
..One of the cylinders looked so bad, like something was in it, it tore the combustion chamber of the head apart. and screwed up the whole cylinder wall.
How many miles on the first motor before it took a dump?
Just talked to my cousin. He said there was a little over 140k on the original motor. He said he had a few overheating problems. Ever since the last overheating issue, the motor begain to run real rough, Thats when I came along and started looking into it for him. I figured he blew a headgasket since we had no compression in two cylinders. Upon tearing the motor down I found that the motor and head was destroyed.
