holleys are perfectly reliable and the newer ones have powervalve blowout protection.my opinion, holleys are the only way to go.

Opinions on carbs are just that, opinions, the newer holleys are a lot better with the blowout protection, the edelbrocks are better because they don't have any gaskets below the fuel level in the fuel bowls. For just plain street manners etc I prefer the edelbrock, for all out performance or even a hot street car the holley is better.

Lucas, your right the oil pan is not cheap. $286 plus 75 bucks for the pickup. I think I will take your advise and look at the scrap yard first. 1/2 hour under a truck is cheap.

Do you guys know if these hedman headers will work in my 1974 crew? They are part number 89140. The guy at the shop said they would work fine. $213 bucks.

comp cam $142, lifters $89 mag rockers $176 push rods $126 double roller $54
gasket kit $95

another question, Is a macleod flywheel any good? and do I need the 176 tooth 15.52 inch one or the 180 tooth heavy duty? I think it was 28 oz.

That sucker is $495 wow.

But $3300 for a 521 stroker is not bad, plus machining and assembly. I am going to have to try to find a good shop to balance this thing up for me too. In Calgary, any suggestions???? EH? AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks again for all the help.
If your 4x4 is going to be in some rough terain I would go for a deeper pan with some baffling. The Ford truck pan does not have any baffling. Take a look at Milodon too.
