Has anyone seen the Southern 358 that is going to be produced in 2008? I know its a 48-54 Chevy P/U Clone, but get this: the prototype has a 5.4 Triton in it and the production models will have the 4.6 DOHC in it. Ford in a Chebby! New turn in the Darkside!!
That's awesome! I read the article and it seems it will be a dream come true for the Bowtie fans. Now, if only someone would reproduce the 56' f100 big window in all steel with those engine options for the Blue Oval fans, life on earth would be heaven.
its being modeled after the 54 3100... its supposed to have the 5.4l 350 chevy in it....and i believe they will also offer a big block 400.... but supposed to be all chevy....man it looks great doesn't it.....tks,ashlandcat
If you got to Southernmotorcompany.com and click on the specs of the Southern 358. I says it is powered by a 4.6 DOHC, 330 HP, Mustang V-8. The prototype is a real 1954 3100 with a 5.4 engine. This is what i was getting at, a Ford in a Chevy!!! Saw a 514 BBF in radical 50 Chevy P/U a couple of years back at the S.W. Goodguys
you are right sir...went to their site.....i got my copy of classic truck out and it doesn't mention ford...just talks about a 5.4l 350 chevy..and its also called the southern 408 in the magazine..looks like the same truck they show on their web site...nice looking.........and i guess its worth it but....$55,000
guess i'll stick with my 51f1.....tks,ashlandcat
I believe the "408" is the prototype and the "358" the production model. I saw the artice on the 408 and reference to an "LS" type engine. To rich for my blood. I stay with my 49er!
