Trailer might be busted???

I noticed on the way home, since i got pulled over, that my running lights on the trailer doesnt work. I was given a verbal warning and when I got home, I looked at the plug. It was soaked. The tailer itself doesnt have a fuse. I am guessing that since the trailer was sitting around and it rained, it might have gotten wet and when i plugged it in, it blew a fuse in the truck. is this possible?

Just the running lights or do the brake lights not work either?

Be aware, If memory serves me right. The fuse for the trailers is under the hood, Not in the cab.

I would not think a wet plug would short out the fuse. Check your wires up and down the trailer for a short. It could be in any circuit. And even if its new it could still be pinched or pulled too tight over a sharp edge.

I also have a back up camera as well as a back up light that I have back there...I noticed today that both of those dont work as well....I have some fishing to do this friday for either a burnt fuse or something else...

I know your bought the quads new, but was the trailer new also? First check your fuses. Second, crawl under the trailer(even if it is new) and make sure nothing rubbed through the wires. Welcome to the fun world of trailer lights!!!!!!

Even if the truck blew a fuse, I'd still be willing to bet it's the trailer thats the cause. Just being new doesn't mean it's right. Trailers can be built on someones bad day too, just like trucks, cars or you name it. I'd still do a once over on the trailer to be sure.

Sure fire method, is to get yourself a test light and test it AT the plug on the truck side. I would have said you have a bad ground, but your other circuits seem to be working.

Oh no doubt about poor craftsmanship, but the only reason why I am leaning towards the truck is that my backup camera and my back up light that I tapped off the trailer wire is also out.

Did you come up with anything for an answer yet? Did it blow a fuse? Sure sounds like it did. Is the backup light wired right to the circuit or powered up by a relay? The combo of the light, camera, and trailer could be pulling too many amps.

My electrically inclined buddy is at work late tonight. I will have to beg him to look at it at the end of the week...

Let us know when you find it out. Come on you can't just check your fuses??? Don't take much to do that. Oh well, I don't change my own oil. We all have our faults.

yea, I added backup lights and that doesnt work either when I put it into "R" along with my back up camera. I stuck a probe in the holes and there is no power what so ever. I even put the probe in the 7 pin hole and no power there either.
