technical data on panhard bar
Hello to everyone,
I´m looking for some information regarding panhard bars, types of bars, where and how do I locate them in my 56 F-100?. Do they have any length/travel limitations, any experience on using them?
I´m in Mexico and i´m planning to build one myself, any suggestion on material, length and proper position? I´ve been told that I can use bearing type, rubber bushing ones, nylamid ones, etc, but which one is the best?I´ll appreciate if anyone can help me out with one diagram or some guide to build one.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Fernando

Fernando, I don't have all of the information that you need, but I would use some type of rubber bushing for noise and vibration control. The panhard bar needs to be as long as possible to minimize the side to side movement of the axle. It also needs to be parallel to the ground at normal height. I would probably use 7/8'-1" diameter seamless tubing. Good luck,
Larry

Fernando,I used a J-bar type panhard bar on mine.On the right side,I welded a 2"x3" square tube to the frame with 5 holes for up and down adjustment. The J-bar goes over the driveshaft to an adjustable mount that clamps around the axle tube.
I got mine from Coleman Racing(colemanracing.com)under suspension and rear end brackets.
The poly type bushing would be best for the street but I went with regular steel heim joints.
