Exclamation Lift question

I have a 67 F-100 4x4 that I'm redoing. I'm installing 2" lift spring in the front, and blocks in the rear. What I'm needing to know is, do I need to have a new panhard bar made for the front, because of the lift. After installing the front axle on the frame, the panhard bar seems to be too short. I'm thinking I may need to get a new one made, or have the stock one lengthened out a bit.

Any info you guys might have would be great!

You can either get an adjustable bar or get a drop bracket for the frame side of the mount. You want your drag link and trac bar to be as close to parallel as possible, so if you used a drop pitman arm you'll want a drop trac bar bracket.

I'm assuming I'd want the weight of the cab, motor and trans on the frame when I check all of this, right?

2" lifts have been done enough by suspension manufacturers to sell you the right part off the shelf.

As Paul said...an adjustable bar with your factory brackets or new brackets with your factory bar are both options depending on the application. If you used a drop pitman arm (not likely with a 2" lift) then get the drop brackets. If you are using the stock pitman arm get an adjustable trac bar. Thats the best way to assure the trac bar and drag link stay parrallel.

but again...Paul said all this above.

Talked to the local 4X4 shop. they have an adjustable bar, pretty pricey. But, they said they can also weld in a section, and sleeve it, with the factory bar, for considerable less, so I'll probably go that route.

Superlift, Rough Country and Skyjacker all make adjustable trac bars for around $150. Im not sure what you call pricey but thats in the ballpark of all 1/2ton makes through the years.

Id question what type/size/thickness of metal they are using in the splicing/sleeving process. Considerably less than $150 doesnt sound like youre getting DOM. This is the FTE offroad forum after all and sch40 black pipe seems to be perfectly acceptable for suspension components...right Tininan?
