Rs5000 Vs Oem

I have an 03 fX4 Supercrew and want to replace the shocks (70,000 miles).

Should I go with oem or would the Real Rancho RS5000 be better,

The dealer wants about $50 for the front and $60 for the rear OEM shocks.

I have found the RS5000 online for $41 front and rear at truck add on .com and $51.00 front and rear with a vendor on this web site who has a price qurantee to match any price.

I think I know the answer to the Oem vs RS5000 question but others experiences mean a lot to me. I seem to remember a few people actually prefering the Oem shock. I tow a horse trailer pretty often other than that mostly highway driving.

Any vendor reccomendation and any personal experiance would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what the actual difference is between the stock Rancho's and the RS5000's. I'm still deciding which shocks I'm going to put on the rear of my 01 OFFROAD 4x4, myself.

Anything is better then the OEM shocks. I've run Monroe Reflex and Rancho RSX shocks on the last 3 F150's I've had. These worked very well for me. FYI, these 2 shocks are basically the same. But, like I said, any aftermarket shock should perform better then your OE Rancho's....

I have the 5000 series and like them for overall towing control and ride providing the tire pressure is not to high.

I too do alot of towing. Usually 5000-7500lbs. I run 35psi in the tires. I think I am going to go with the RS5000's myself.

I replaced mine with the RS5000's, much better in every aspect from OEM. The difference between the stock Ford ranchos and the RS5000 rancho is different valving, they are slightly stiffer.

Thanks for the reply's.

Looks like the consensus is the RS5000

How long are the shocks supposed to be good for anyway? I don't think the truck rides as good as it used to when new, other than that I'm not sure how you can tell on a truck with stiff suspension. The shocks are'nt leaking or anything.
