I'm kinda bored so I'm going to run some of my thoughts.
I think many of you know that I'm going to fabricate a compound turbo system with my stock turbo(modified) and my H2E(also modified). I just can't wait to do it. When I was fixing my rocker bolt situation. . . I had some time to take all my intake tubes off and clean them. I needed to get all my boots sealed up good. While the intake Y pipe was out. I took my stock turbo and placed it in the valley. With the fuel bowl removed, I'll have no problem fitting the H2E in that spot. Just a matter of brackets, tubing and oil. Its going to be a very interesting setup. I just need to get my posi lock in, all my ladder bars made, and ujoint cages made. Then I can let her rip with no worries! Again, any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Tim
I'm definately interested to see how you're going to set this thing up. It's awesome that you're attempting to do this on your own - something that not many would try. Plumbing will be tight, but that doesn't mean impossible. I'll be watching your progress.
Yeah I've seen that set up on that OBS truck. I promise you that mine will look much cleaner and more professional. I bought another truck for a mile burner I guess(stop putting so many miles on my diesel). It won't kill me to have it down for a couple of weeks to get it done. I will have quite a bit of fabrication to do. Mostly with the intake manifolds, redirecting them forward as the H2 will be ontop of the factory openings. I'm going to have to make a lot of time to make sure those tubes stay connected while under heavy boost. I blow mine off on a regular basis right now. 40 psi is just too much for the stock boots. Time to upgrade. Any suggestions? I think besides the intake manifolds, the most pain in the **** part will be keeping the engine wiring harness out of the way. . . you know the one that goes right in the middle of the valley? Yeah that one. I may have to put some connecters in there and lengthen the main stream to get it out of the way. Thoughts?
Tim
Try some boots from Dieselsite. About anything is better than the stocker's though. Also for high boost application, I'd suggest building some metal brackets to connect the IC pipes together. Done in similar fashion to the ones in these pics:
I actually just recently made a few welding improvements to keep this problem from acuring. I made one for the passenger intercooler tube going into the y pipe into the head. The only problem is I put it on the top instead of the front. Now under high boost, the pipe rotates up and the bottom of the boots and clamps come undone. . . So I'm going to put another on the opposite side. I had one come off the turbo last night. . . that ones never come off before. But I'll bracket them all together soon. Who else besides diesel site has good ones?
Tim
I have the Dieselsite boots, and they are very nice. They come with clamps too. I only have the four up top, i do not have the ones below at the intercooler connections. I would get all 6 of them if i were you. Puredieselpower also sells them i believe.
gates water hose, comes in 3' chunks at many truck parts stores and cut to whatever length you want. I got mine from freightliner and have not blown one apart yet.
