Hey just joined your forum. I would like to find out where are you at with the conversion? I own a 1993 Falcon 19' class B E-250 and I'm planning swapping the 4x4 parts from a 1979 Quadravan under my rig. The TTB option??? I'm not planning on radical 4wheeling with the camper. It will serve has tow rig for my CJ and to ride the Beaches of the Outer-Banks and of the Madelaine Island .
This guy makes a kit that costs $550 and will let you bolt on a 99+ superduty D60 front axle. I believe there is very minor cutting for clearance to the stock x-member.
Check out the Vanaconda link on the left. It's equipped with his kit, and has the whole build/4x4 conversion. Then you can get whatever lift you want from the leaf packs you choose. You will need wheel adapters for the rear to be able to use the same wheels front and rear unless you use the rear axle from the SD truck you get the front from.
He is on the mentioned yahoo group "4x4van" name of chf420, and is very helpful with any questions you may have. When money permits, this is the route I'm going.
Found this site when looking for info on the 07S57 Camshaft Position Sensor Recall.
Currently in recall limbo waiting for Ford Canada to get info to their dealers. US dealers have been doing the recalls on trucks for 3 or 4 days now.
Yes, it was already converted, Quigley has a few Ford dealers who actually stock them on their lots.
I think mine was built but not delivered to NJ since they were VERY accomodating by allowing me to pick it up at Quigley's place of business....after hours yet!
so basically is it a matter of swapping a Dana 60 for the front from a 70's ford? Does the year of the axle make a difference? It would probably be advised to use 3/4 ton springs and such right? what about transfer cases? would i have to swap the tranny out too? and you DO have to modify a crossmember right or did i misread? and whats this about using leaf springs? whats easier?
