I have an '03 6.0 PSD w/ 81K miles that recently began to surge at idle while stopped in drive. Sometimes it is just a slight surge, other times it "hits" hard enough to lurch the truck forward slightly. No SE light yet.
I had a similar problem this time last year and Ford replaced the ICP sensor and EGR valve. I'm hoping it's just the EGR since it can be unplugged. Speaking of, has anyone who's done that had negative effects from it?
I know this topic has been beat to death, but I'm taking my truck on vacation next week and need some info. Thanks in advance!
I have an 03 with 60K miles. I have had the EGR replaced twice and the "Y" pipe once (it was cracked and was causing the surge at idle). The last time was 1000 miles ago when they replaced the "Y" pipe. Last week it started surging again, so will be taking it back a 4th time. So far it has been covered under the 5year/100,000 mile warrantee (I had to pay the $100 deductible last time because it wasn't the EGR). I wonder what they will find this time.
