Is that alarm stock? Check the key. Not sure about that year, but it likely has a microchip in the key to disable antitheft in the ignition lock. If this is the prob, take it to the dealer.
Yes, it is a stock system. No, it does not have a chip in the key. The remote does not seem to help in getting the truck started. I have a feeling the starting problem maybe a ground issue.
I would really prefer to disable the anti-theft system completely. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I gather I haven't been around later models enough lately. Sounds like major pain. OTOH, too easy to get in the cab without anti-theft. I can get into mine through either door in about 3 minutes with a piece of simple banding steel. I will NOT say how. I think a really nice average tow truck driver likely to know it, though. I figured this one on my own in this case. I would get the alarm fixed when convenient. I think most of the newer trucks have hung onto the classic door lock setups by Ford. Most thieves would probably see a worthless piece of junk in my truck. They love newer bodies.
I don't feel like I have much of a risk for theft, this truck is in a locked garage 90% of the time. I keep it just for towing a boat & general four wheel'n, not as a daily driver.
Looks to be a convoluted quest. I would start with a factory blueprint of wiring diagram. Should be handy on ebay. Also factory dvd manuals. Bypassing starter disable high on list. There are going to be other issues as well. Any idea where the main alarm module is? They have to make it difficult to do this.
I have no clue where the module is, my Chiltons Manual has nothing on the anti-theft system. I guess they don't make this easy in order to keep thieves from being able to resell the vehicles quickly after stealing them. I will try the ebay thing & see what I can do.
