2000 explorer head lights

2000 explorer head lights

What would cause the head lights to flash off and on during day running They work fine if I turn the head lights on My truck is a canadian car so it has day running lights installed

This might help, there is a light sensing unit someplace on the front of the truck. It will turn on and off the headlights, due to the amount of light. Don't know it's location, could be going bad, or dirty. Have wondered about mine. Will need to go out in the barn and use a flashlight to find the sensor. I can turn my lights on or off with the switch, or I can turn the switch all the way over to the left, for the auto switch to work. Hope this helps, I now have a project myself.

Yoeman, After I posted to you the other day, I went out and found the sensor. It is the little nub looking thing on the dash. Center of dash, next to windsheild. Ended up using the black folder holding the car manual. Just shoved it into the space at the window to block all sunlight. The sensor is called a sunload sensor,go figure. Hope this added info helps. You might want to block this off, and see if it is the bad boy.
