ya i know what your talking about. anyways i need this thing ran on the DD again but with a holley street dominator intake. i recently got from a friend and it onlty cost me a cursed 460 that was taking up space. so i appreciate it alot felles.
That would be a burette or what's called a burette tube.
I have one in glass with stand, the only way to cc heads and pistons accurately. "flask" is the item in your back pocket.
Keg: (n), crunchy on the outside, yummy on the inside.

7ford2, when you get a chance check out the pics in my gallery of my 418FE that I built. It is more designed towards race but I run it on 93 octane fuel, when just cruising around town. I used everything over the counter just had some of the parts modified a little and I ported and polished my own heads. I am running a Portosonic intake and a holley 750cfm that I ported.

and speaking of back pocket! I think mine needs a refill!!
well fellas i need to resurect this thread again. alright i recently accquired a set of EDE-C 352 heads with large intake ports and the small 69 cc chambers. so will someone run this build again but with these heads.but i am building a 428 so it will have stock 428 bore and new stock cast pistons.i appreciate it fellas.

Hi guys, this is J.D. new member with a '69 390FE powered galaxy 500 conv. i have lots to ask and a little knowledge to share but i;ll try to focus 1 thing at a time .first a quick descript of my project;got the galaxy in 2001 with the original 390 2v.She ran great for 2 years then one day the drivetrain broke due to rockershaft retaining bolt failure.First i was just going to replace the shaft and bolts but then stumbled onto a pair of 1961 hi-po 4v heads and that turned into a full rebuild.I;ve been messing around with engines for 20 years but never re built a motor from the ground up and this was my 1st FE motor after many win/clev types. Now after 2 years its almost done.I had the block prepped and torque plate honned, the main oil passages bored out and main bearing holes allinged.rods balanced,clevite77 bearings crank balanced, assembled with a.r.p.bolts thru out entire motor. a.r.p.oil pmp drive, h.v. pump.Pistons are forged sealed power 10 to 1 .Comp Cams270Hmagnum 224@.050 .519lift in/ex 110`l.s.a.I had the bottom end machined and assembled by Bob at ace crankshaft, great guy does exellent work, then assembled the 1961 4vheads with stock shafts, comp cam1.76 roller rockers, stock vaves and a.r.p. retaining bolts.Performer alum intake topped by a 670 holly avenger carb is the combo i came up with combined with a unrestrictive intake and exaust hopefully do the trick.carb heat spacer,K&N fiter and stubstack and fresh air intakes can make 670cfm into700cfm.I also modified my oil pan with a 7 qt kickout homemade baffles and ford motorsport windage tray that i cut the flange off and welded directly into the pan(eliminating the need for two gaskets) the pickup is 3/8 from the floor of the pan ,is this optimum?Any imput at all, suggestions, critisisms, questions, power predictions are greatly appreciated. Also trying petronix.P.S. going through C-6 with 2400 stall. this is a great site thanks again, J.D.Allford.

Exactly what "new stock pistons?" You mean new old stock, or new replacement like a Silvolite? Right now, I dont know if they have a dish, a dome, or a giant smiley face engraved into the top of 'em!
Edit: JD, your build sounds good, but in the future I suggest you start your own thread.
Ok, so I'll assume (bad idea) that the bore is 428 standard 4.130", and that the pistons are TRW-L2303NF. Good pistons.
They give you 11.01:1 compression with the Mr. Gasket steel shim head gaskets.
With your single plane intake, headers, mufflers, a Crane 343941 cam, and your early ported heads, you'd have about:
489hp @ 5500rpm
507ft-lbs @ 4500rpm
I hope you have high octane fuel available where you live, 'cause premium pump gas AINT gonna cut it! You need to lower compression, get a bigger cam, or find a readily available high octane fuel. Thicker head gaskets are questionable, because as you lower the compression, you also increase the quench (or squish) distance and dont really gain anything. With these pistons, I calculated a theoretical piston to deck clearance of .016", which with the .020" thick Mr. Gasket steel shims, gives .036" quench. About perfect IMO.
Slightly zone ahead:
If you have E85 available, this motor would run perfectly on it, without fear of pinging. Here are the results with it:
so what is the best way to lower my compression ratio to about 10.5 or 10 to 1. becasue the highest octane around here is 91. and i dont know of anywhere in this neck of the woods that sells e85.
