I have posted before about this but gotten no responses...
I finally got my 07 Explorer and picked up a Ford service manual hoping to find out how to add DRL to my US Explorer liek I did with my 96 Explorer buy plugging the module in under the driver front bumper. The manual does not show any DRL module and really does not have much info at all about how the DRL system works in an 07 Explorer.
Has anyone here added DRL to an 06 or 07 Explorer? If so, I'd appreciate any advice or info you could give me.
Here is my 2 cents worth. You need to make sure that the truck has the wire harness for DRL's. Any time I have tryed to add factory type up-grades to any of my Ford's, I have found out that FORD uses different wire harnesses. I hope you follow what I am saying. I have a 02 XLT, no fog lights, to install fog's, use factory lamps, cut and splice after market wire, route through firewall, add extra switch, try to make it look good. Hope this helps.
Pretty sure the '02-'05 USA models had the correct harness, but I'm not sure about '06-'07; your service manager should be able to find out if there's a module available and whether it's plug-n-play.
Steina, Need to differ. I have a 2002 XLT, no DRL's, no harness under the hood, dash switch not set up for DRL's, Haynes auto book shows 2 different wire diagrams ( with DRL, and without ). Been down that road awhile back, just for future referance.
Huh.......when I bought my '02 XLT new and asked the service manager about DRL, I was told all Gen III Explorers had the harness but the module "should" be installed by a service department; I never ordered the module ($$$) so I'll take your word for it (that's why I said "pretty sure").
