I installed DRL on my F150 but traded it in for a F250 Diesel. I would like to install DRL on my F250. Has anyonr installed them on thier F250. Does any one have a part number or a link where to buy? Any information would be appreciated.

Ford does sell a DRL system(P/N F8AZ-13B218-AA, check the site sponsor list for OEM parts seller's) as an accessory, but remarkably enough it's the same part number as the automatic headlamp system. The auto-headlamp system states that DRL can be activated when the auto-headlamp system is installed. Canadian vehicles all have the DRL system standard. So I'm wondering if those of us that have the auto-headlamp system from the factory already have the ability for DRL, it's just not activated. Anybody with access to the installation instructions for the Automatic Headlamp System?

I found mine up under the drivers side headlight, it was just a three prong plugin with a plug in it and the female plugin part was just above it. I pull the blank plug out of the one end and plug them together not knowing what it did until that night when I turned off the lights and the headlights stayed on until I turned off the key.

That's great! Are the lights on at a reduced intensity?

I finally got a chance to go out to my truck and look for the DRL parts. Well, I have the wiring in place for both the resistor and the relay, but that's it. And without those two items, which I'd have to buy from Ford, no easy hook-up of DRL's.

Envirocon, I have an 05 lariat and was hoping to get away with plug ins like you were saying resister and module. I ordered fmc drl module and the darn thing requires you to splice and dice the wires in place. I haven't had a chance to track down all the wires yet. So if anyone has a magic trick like rclark1 let me know. I would sure rather go that route.

wiingnut- What does the DRL kit come with? On my '04 there's a plug right above the driver's side headlight that is currently not plugged into anything but a dummy plug. That's the plug for the resistor. The plug for the relay is on the passenger side wheel well hump. It's plugged into a another plug that just has a wire loop. Here's a link to doing DRL's on an F-150. Our plugs are the same but the location of them is somewhat different.

ON EDIT: The link also contains the Ford P/N's for the resistor and relay.

rclark1, what year is your F250??? I have a 2004 F250 Lariat 6.0L with the auto-headlamp system, but I can not find the wires with the 3-wire plugs on it. I see the three sets of wires for the headlight, running light, and signal light, but not the one you are describing.
Thanks for the help.

I checked my truck and I have the plug on top of the drivers side headlight with a plug in it. I have the loop plug on the passengers side fender well with a loop plug. So all I need is the relay on the passenger side and the resistor on the left side?? Will this activate the DLR? If that is all there is to it I don't see why Ford don't connect them.

Theoretically, yes. But I've never actually done it. You may be the guinea pig. Actually, I may be the guinea pig. I'm considering getting the parts and giving it a try.

This is easy, $$$. If you go down to the 6.0 forum of the Diesel Section, there's a Tech Folder sticky. Inside is a thread titled Missing Items on the Superduty. This thread is full of parts that Ford deleted to save money. They range from hood blankets to glovebox lights.

I ran into a slight snag when I was looking up the relay and resistor parts on-line. The relay comes out, but the resistor has apparently been replaced by a much more expensive "control module". I'm not sure, but it may be the control module that Ford sells as the DRL kit, which requires splicing. I'm going to try my local parts dept. and see if they can get me the resistor.

EnviroCon, My drl module # F6SZ-13B218-AA This is the right #. I triple checked before purchase. But a different # is on module itself # F6AJ-19E522-AA. I questioned the different part# with co. I purchased from. They talked with Ford rep. # on mudule is an engineering #. Module is potted (sealed) w/ 6 wire harness w/ fused power wire and a handfull of butt splices and instructions. I thought of calling a Canadian dealer to see if they could order the mod and resis. but never did. Presently I'm at a standstill as far as install. So any info I will appreciate. Here is a link to place I bought from: http://fparts.autowebaccessories.com/ sorry about longwindedness

When I had it installed on my 04 F150 Lariat it had to be spliced in. I was reading my vehicle manual it mentions DLR (if so equipped) but tells what position the switch should be in to work. The automatic position. Let me know what you find out. I am checking with my dealer also.
