I'll ship all over, BUT the buyer needs to understand that:
A. shipping on the "slow boat" can take weeks
B. I'm not going to lie on customs forms. If you get hit with some sort of luxury tax, thats your probnlem, not mine (acctually had this happen)
C. the buyer pays postage
I estimated the cost of shipping, using the USPS site & it was about $43 not including return reciept.

Are you selling a Elmo doll? And it was 43 bucks? That dont sound right at all, I've shipped stuff to the UK heavier than a Elmo doll for less than that.
I've been on eBay for 5+ years now, no negative feedbacks.
What would I do in your case?
Let them know that the auction was "US ONLY".
DO NOT check postage as a package sent to Spain. If they gave you an APO/FPO address, use the zip code from it as a 'Domestic" shipment and check postage. You might find it's no more expensive than in the continental US.
I just had someone with an FPO address buy something from me. It costs $10 for USPS Priority Mail for 5 lbs. The base is in Okinawa!
You still have to fill out the Customs forms though. And, I think, there is a special one for APO/FPO addresses. In most cases, if someone asks me what postage is before they buy, I pad an extra $2-3 just to cover the hassle of filling out forms, and waiting on line at the post office. Otherwise, regular domestic stuff I ship using the automated machine so it's a lot faster. This particular shipment, I won't pad, just because it's a US military service member.
