Still has the block from my 76 all it needs is to be taken out another .20 to clean up the cylinder's and i have another set of heads which i'll use when i find a 428 crank and stroke it out.
Well $350 isn't a bad price for a good running motor, I've got a couple up here goin' for that!, I would buy em', but shipping would be horrible.....I think it's pretty expensive to ship 650 +/- lbs, from down there, to all the way up here!..lol...oh well
A 390 short block doesn't weigh anywhere near 650 lbs. And the shipping's not as bad as you'd think. Motor freight to Maine would be about 200 to 300 dollars. A bare block's shipping weight is 200 lbs. The short block would be about 400. You have to round up to the next hundred pounds to ship motor freight. I do mine thru FreightQuote.com and have a business address with a forklift to load, that lowers the cost somewhat.
well that's cool to know.....the 650 was a complete motor figure, not short block, I'll have to keep a tab on ya in case I need an FE in the near future!
Bear, you are right! I usually acquire stuff pretty reasonably, but I ain't going to give it away.
I hate seeing the following going anywhere near a junkyard. Lately I have been on quest to save these items, because are are no longer made anymore and supply is dropping.

Oh, I understand completely. I still kick myself everytime I think about all the very special FE stuff I let go. early 60s 390HP stuff, 406 and 427 complete engines and pieces. If I had them now they would fill up my 3 garages and shop worse than they are now.
