I looked at a stock 4 bbl intake this weekend at the junkyard, the guy said it was from an early 60s car. It had the oil filler in the intake and a large tube sticking out the back. I had not sen this before. He said the main difference was the number of vaccuum ports, is that it? would this work on my 1968 360?
Not sure are you wanting it to look original if not just buy aftermarket Aluminum from Edelbrock which will keep lighter than a stock 4barrel manifold which i do have and it is heavy.
you can pull the vent tube and put a cap in it. I just left it. Makes for easy oil fills. Its the chrome thing at the front left side. It might be clearer in the video ..see the link in the picture heading..
you can just put a breather, or a PCV valve in it, because a PCV valve should be going into you oil cap right now anyways right?.....I would just leave that whole cap right how it is, and use the intake filler for the oil fill. And just plug the pipe in the back of the manifold.
Just going off the top, if the intake runner height is much taller than 1.8", you would be going backwards to the (most likely) C8 heads in your truck.
If I remember it right, intakes and heads got smaller runners starting in '66. An older intake on a newer head wouldn't line up as well. It works much better the other way around. LOL
I'm curious now Bob, what # is cast in your intake? Last one I saw like it was on my '64. I really liked that oil fill. LOL
Your right there Hyp....thats a tall port Intake..and wont match up to the Mid 65 and later heads..and it has the fill tube up front and the Old style crankcase Vent tube in the rear known as (A road draft tube)
I didnt notice a mismatch in the ports but then I wasnt looking all that closely. But then it was never intended to rip up the road so I dont think it will be of any concern I hope. I twas off a motor with a race engine builders tag on it with D2 heads (which I could kick myself in thass at this point for not snagging) I'll check the # today
Thanks, that helps. I have a line on another intake with a stock 4bbl on it as well. I haven't looked at it yet but if it is in good hsape what is it worth? I think they guy wants 100 OBO for both.
I had to call the one here. They told me $25 over the phone, I didn't ask about a core charge. At least with them you have thirty days to change your mind and get a refund. I like the refund part the best, you might get the thing home to find it's been cut at some time and does not fit quite right, find something broken that you didn't notice earlier. Might be a kind of bargaining ship, drop the price to an amount you can write off.
Timing is the real bugger. Six weeks ago you had a chioce of 4Vs at this yard, now it's the 2Vs until they put something else out. Wish I had known you were still shopping...
Get the numbers off the front; a letter, a number, two more letters followed by 9425 and another letter.
