volare steeering

How is the best way to get the pin out that holds the coupler on a volare steering box ? I tried driving it out with a drift / punch , but I don't like hitting it hard because that can't be good for the box . I'm thinking about drilling it . I probably will replace it with a bolt & self-locking nut . Any tips? Thanks.

My memory is terrible but I recall having a similar problem with mine. It's just a rolled pin and it seems there was something else holding it but I can't remember what. After I removed whatever that was the pin came out easily. Check it very throughly before you drill or try to drive it out. Maybe someone who has a better memory will be along soon...it was about 4 years ago when I did mine.

Mine was just pressed in, pounded out with a punch, used a small hammer you don't need the heavy weight hammer. also used some pb blaster. it will come out, it just takes a while
