coil springs.

Hey guy's, Im going to be installing coil springs on my 90 f150 4x4 this weekend and just wanted to know if there is any thing I should know before I start. I have done coils on cars before but never on a 4x4 pick up. It looks pretty straight forward but I thought I would tap the knowledge on this site before I start for any pointers. Also Im going to buy a new set of lock out hubs as my oem hubs are some times hard to engage, nothing is binding or any thing like like that they just seem sloppy. I usally run warn premiums on my other trucks but I was looking at mile marker premium hubs and wondering if they are any good. thanks guy's.

I want to keep an eye here because I'm going to be installing coil boosters on my 91 F150 4x4. I am going to give the boosters a try first.
I just had about $500 work on the front end and they replaced the lockouts with the premium warn hubs. Major improvement!
Now just replacing the radius arm bushings

I don't know anything about the hubs. But the coil springs are easy. I had to get both sides of the front up off the ground to get the travel I needed to get the new springs on.

I've got the mile marker premiums. The only issue I have is one of them is hard to turn. The other is smooth. I've pulled both caps off, cleaned and lubricated them, but the problem always comes back on the same side. Maybe it's a bad seal on the spindle?

Shooter. what are coil boosters? Are they those spacers that go between the coils? my coils are completly shot! I dont think any thing would help mine other than new ones but I would like to know what you are talking about.

They are a 2" poly that goes under the stock coils to level out the Ford prostreet look. They also go by leveling bushings.

I just did a 4 inch rancho suspension lift on my 89 and it went reasonable smooth. the odd broken bolt and such. The worst part was having to drill out all the factory studs that hold the ttb arms on and the radius arms ( I had extended radiuse arms)
But if you are just doing the coils, It shouldnt take you much more than half an hour.

Hey guys. My plans to do my coils today were interupted this morning when my power steering pump **** the bed on me.It had been getting prgressively louder so I knew it was coming, no real big deal I guess and while I was doing it I found the coolant leak I had been looking for, but I have to put a rad in now.I love my truck but it is at that point '100k' miles that stuff starts going wrong, most of the things I have had to fix lately are origianal partsso I am actually kind of impressed with the truck. It still has the original ball joints in it and they are still tight thats pretty damn good in my book!

I had those profesionally installed on my 92' Ranger 4x4 and 1 cracked on the way home and then the second one cracked in half a week later without any offroading. I got them from Daystar. I contacted them and they would not take any blame for defects so, I bought another set and only one snapped so I just gave up and on my 92' F-150 4x4 5.0 I will be getting the taller springs.
Good luck with whatever you do.
