yesterday on my way to work I filled my tank full putting 18 gallons into it, I checked how much I had driven since I last filled it and it had been 455 miles so of course 455 dived by ,18 equals 25.2 miles to the freaking gallon! w000t
my truck is a 79 f150 custom explorer, long bed, reg cab, 302 carb 2bbl (i think its a 2bbl), stock 1000lbs (lol) rims those things way a ton compared to my suburbans rims, i think it actually has undersized tires on it because my grandpa hauled a bunch so he didnt want taller tires, the back end I 99% sure he had replaced so it is like a 250 or a 350 back end, the heavy duty suspenion bars and thick frame, ugh no tail gate, and yeah but I was exstatic when i found out I was getting 25mpg and I am 100% positive its correct because i write my miles down everytime I fill her up and lots of highway driving with a good amount of city driving.
I dont know I think its pretty awesome
sorry for any crappy spelling

Reason: crappy spelling
It is possible to get 25 MPG, but it's also possible that you lost or forgot to right down the last mileage when you filled up, so it'd mean you got 12.6 mpg on two tanks, which is alot more common.
But like I said, not saying it's not truck, b/c I've gotten 20 out of mine on 50 mile hwy trips before.
Like Torque first said, with all those changes, your speedo could be off.
BUT if not, then all the better for you!
the odometer works perfect I've checked in on trips that I know the exact distance, and I only use one of the tanks out of the two, my grandpa had it all set right, everything works, I mean I just drove smart
It is correct guys make me feel bad and take a way my happyness lol
I checked it with my suburban, my parents truck and when I know the EXACT distance from a place to another
That is truly incredible. My last truck was a 79 F100 2wd with 302, C6, and 3.25 gears and even after a complete tune up it would only get 12mpg. But my current truck is a 79 F150 2wd with 460, C6, and 3.50 gears and it gets 11.5mpg on the same roads. I also have a 05 F150 FX4 with 35's and it only gets 13.5 on backroads, best of about 17 on the highway.
Not to Pirate a thread, but, ford141: Did you re gear axels or recalibrate your speedo after the 35s install?? If not than your getting better milage than you think. And you may be in for a fat speeding ticket because your speedo is way off.
Wow Brentleleedragon, that's wonderful! Just to 100% confirm, as was suggested, see if you can duplicate that mileage a few more times. I'm sure someone has installed one of those hybrid sytems in your truck when you were asleep - must be some kind of secret Ford experimental program.... Sign me up.
