Hey guys/gals,
I have question that I cant seem to find the answer to. I have replaced the fuel pump in the gas tank, however it is making a really loud whale like sound. It seems to be resonating through out the car. Whats causing this? Is there something I can do to keep it from making all this noise?
Its normal for them to make a fairly noticeable whine when running. Should be just barely audible from within the van. Aftermarket pumps may use a different motor and therefore make a different type/decibel level of sound. This could be your case.
Oh its definitly audible,,,Makes a terriable whine. Its the second one two, mind you its from the same parts store. Would using some cork to line the straps help?, and what about using some between the tank and the bottom of the van??
The tank is plastic which helps negate a considerable amount of sound wave transfer. I doubt if adding cork to the straps would do much. Might be a better tactic to try and insulate the tank with a sound deadener material. They sell this by the sheets at some parts stores. Its a silver, laminated affair.
Original Motorcraft fuel pump is loud when it is new, Bosh pumps are silent.
These pumps are different. There are rollers inside the Motorcraft pump (I tried to disaasembly it), the Bosch pump has a small turbine inside, that's why noise of it is hissing, but slight.
