Still need more help. I am still doing my disc brake conversion on my 66 f100, I have now got the booster and master cylinder on. Now the problem is with the proportioning valve. I have read the article that shows a bracket fabricated to mount it, but there is no room. Where in the world do I mount the valve where there is room to run the brake lines. Heeeeeelllllllppppp!!!!!!
I changed out the complete front end fro,,m a 79 f 150 and replaced the brake lines
and all the brakes with as much new parts IO could find. The proportoning valve is located next to the left front side . It will hve five lines - 2 are from the master cylinder via the coiled brake line and 3 are piit;et tp 2 front and 1 goes to the rear. It will be on a small bracket which you can fasten to 66. What are you using the PS from? You should probably need the left hand engine stand from a 70s model pu and this wll enable the replacement of he manual steerig with a PS steering box I have PB and PS also the tilt wheel t,hat came with the 79. I wold lso highly recommend the installation of a sway bar and itworks like a champ. Great improvement in driving.

The proportioning valve can be mounted any number of places...heck, Ford used at least 3 different spots I've seen! I chose to copy one of them, which is probably one of the easier for running the lines. I bolted it to the backside of the engine crossmember, just used an existing bolt hole for one of the brake line retaining clips. Plenty of room to bend and run the lines though you will spend a lot of time in-out-in-out from under the truck until they fit.
Other factory locations were inside the left frame rail (PITA to run lines there) or attached to the steering box with a bracket.
Steering box and bracket is the easiest and the ugliest. I like to hide them on the left frame rail aft of the transmission cross member. This will take a bit of time and much longer lines but they are safe there and out of sight. I also use the left exit MC from an 80"s Van. Easier to do this with the cab off!
I'mjust getting started on my 65 F100. I'd like to convert mine to disk brakes also can you give me a parts list to start with, what king of disk parts did you put on your truck?
On my 65 the proportion valve is attached to bracket mounted on the steering box taken from 76 donor truck. As noted by FTE member, if using the Ford steering box then need the drivers side engine perch from donor truck with power steering in same engine family. Perch is swept back to allow for larger box.
Tubman, Welcome, under 'forum' open the menu scroll down to the 'search' catagory and run a search in this forum 61-66 under power steering, or wording simular, should find great deal of info on the topic. For the upgrade on my 65, found donor truck and removed everything related to power steering, brackets, 2-3 sheeve (groove) pulleys, particulary 2-3 groove damper. It is difficult to mix and match these pulleys and brackets so it's much easier if you can find a donor from same engine family and remove brackets and pulley all together.

Where ever decide to install suggest check to make sure will not interfer with access to certain components in engine compartment, or if intend to install upgrades in the future. None come to mine, but sometimes loose patience trying to get to header bolts, or plugs closest to the firewall.
Tubman, check email, sent web site for disc brake upgrade.
GM trucks and cars have it mounted there. They use a small bracket that mounts to one of the MC bolts and then to the proportioning valve. run short lines from MC to PV then run your brake lines from there.
hOW WOULD YOU MOUNT IT THERE, NEXT TO THE MASTER CYLINDER
Well I bought a new Mater and p-valve from LMC. And the p-valve has a bracket on it, for mounting to the master cylinder if you want, or anywhere else. 2 bolts hold the master to the firewall or booster, one of the bolts goes thru the bracket.
