Basically I just want to know how you guys like your 07 6.0's,I've got an 04 6.0 and i'm thinking about trading it for an 07.I hear the 07's are the best 6.0 to have. Just looking for some feedback on how they are,Is it worth trading my 04,It has low miles and no problems I can't deal with.I just want to upgrade the truck a little bit.I'm just little worried to about keeping my,as people say ''problematic'' 04.I just want to know I will have a pretty flawless truck.Thank you for any input.
I just bought my '07 crew cab in late Sept 06 and like it so far. I went all out with the outlaw package. This is my first Ford and first diesel. With only 1350 miles my opinion may not carry much weight. Frankly, if I had found this web site before my purchase I would have had 2nd thoughts, however, what's done is done and I have taken the position that the later edition of the 6.0 you have the better it is. I understand that is a simplistic notion, however, that opinion seems to be applicable if you read the boards and pay attention to what the Ford techs. are saying on them about the comitment by Ford to keep working to get the engine "right". By the same token, if its mechanical sooner or later something will break. That's the nature of the beast but it seems like sometimes sooner is "too soon" for comfort. A more helpful opinion may come from someone who has sat behind the wheel of the '04 and '07.
I have had my 07 Outlaw since aug., I have 15000 on it and it is flawless. Mine is used like a quad ,it's in the bush working hard crashing and banging every day.My problem is I went from a 99 s/d to this one and it drives so smooth that I have to remember to slow down or I could take the front out long before it normaly requires repair. 20 mpg on hwy at 65 mph and 12 to 15 mpg when I'm in the bush. The 20 in wheels are nice for the clearance when running on beat up haul roads. No compaints and its the sharpest looking truck money can buy!!
I never had an issue with the 04 besides blowing the HG's...but that was my fault. The 07 has been flawless so far as well.
I would still say that the 07 would be the best 6.0 to get because of the commonized components for the 6.4L (engine build date after JAN 18 ...I think)
I have an 07 with about 4200 miles on it, and it has been absolutely flawless. It has been in the shop 1 time to move a wiring harness the installers of my daylighters moved behind the clutch and was causing a short. They didn't charge me for it though. So far I am happy, plenty of power on the highway, fun to take off road, and it definitely gets lots of looks!
got my 07 in september, have 5200 miles on it. I take a lot of short trips with the occasional (once a week) 30 mile trip to visit the parents. Took it to NJ with 2 K on it. Towed a boat (6K) from tilton to salem, didn't even know it was there. Hell this truck made a 327 mile trip home from toms river NJ in 3 hours 30 minutes. Once she warmed up I didn't get off the tripple digit mark for nothing. So yeah, with another trip to NJ and a few more hauls before then she hasn't let me down.I did change the oil 3 times already though..... but that's just my paranoia.
I know my head gasket problem was caused by a tuner. I wasted a lot of money on them lol. I started with a superchips, then went to the bully dog and now im using the sct. Im pretty sure it was the bully dog though.
Bear Hunter: Any pictures of your new truck yet???? I loved the old one.
I have had 3 super duties and my April 2006 built King Ranch is the nicest truck I have ever been in. I have towed a 12K toyhauler through the mountains to Eastern Oregon and the truck was awesome. I have 3,000 miles on it and most of them have been towing. I am averaging around 13.8 miles to the gallon with a mix of towing an empty. Only Mod to date is a bug guard and built in navigation sys.
welcome (in advance) to the limited member '07 club! Your new truck surely will become a collectors item due to it's limited availability and extreme reliability...
We just got back from a camp trip with our camper and a loaded 3 horse trailer behind -- truck is amazingly stable with the combination and we'd find ourselves forgetting the loaded trailer was even behind us! -- get the Tow Command if you have any inkling you might tow with the new truck -- it is way ahead of the competition. Love our '07, love it, love it, love it!
FWIW: I have a very good friend with an early '04 PSD 4x4 and he has had literally no problems, and has tugged around a 34' Alpinelite 5'er for most of it's 40k+ miles (it's right at his max GCWR too)...
