Sick

I got sick over in Nevada - in fact, I came home early without doing any of the things I wanted to do on Sunday and Monday. Thought I was working on a cold.

Spent most of the following week loafing around, and didn't really start to do anything until last week, when I pulled the engine from the 89. It wasn't much fun and I had a real problem bending over - and only worked a few hours each day.

Sunday I found I could not fit into my clothes - even the new pants I had bought in Nevada. Stepped on the scale and found I had gained 25 pounds in the last two weeks, and my legs and feet were swollen. My adbomen was also swollen and rock hard - I could not even bend over to tie my shoes.

I now know what it is like to be pregnant - I was retaining water and looked to be in the 9th month! (and guys, being pregnant is one joy best left to the ladies - it sucks!)

I called the nurse as I thought I had goofed up my medication, and she had me go into the emergency room at the Fresno VA - They used a 6 inch needle to drain some water from my guts, and addmited me. Turns out my liver was messing up somehow - they assumed I had been on some sort of long bender to get this way. Took quite a bit to convince them I wasn't some drunk in off the streets!

Long story short, I was in the hospital the better part of 3 days - and have to return in a few weeks. I have some new medication to dry me up, and then they want to look at my liver some more. As of today I had lost 16 of the almost 25 pounds I gained. I can even ware my jeans again, although it still looks like I am in my second trimester. Sweat pants are a lot more comfortable.

I go back on the 7th for a reevaluation.

There is no way to get on the Internet while in the hospitial - so if things get quite on my end you will know what happened.

Dang Clint, that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun. You sure pick some odd things to do for entertainment!

Take care of yourself, my friend. And be glad you don't actually have to experience the joys(?) of childbirth firsthand!

Wow Clint! I was wondering where you were during that dry spell. I hope everything continues to go well in your recovery. Please feel free to ask if there is ANYTHING I can do. Keep us posted as to the diagnosis and status of recovery.
Regards, T

Best of luck in the recovery Clint. Seems like they have you on the right meds now.

Hey Clint, I met up with BDOX today, and we were wondering where the heck you've been. Your scaring us by not showing up much these days.
Post up, OK?

I am here, and almost back to normal, or as normal as I get. I was sort of lurking to see how the GTG went -

Still own the people at Rattlesnake Raceway some sort of explanation - or we will not be welcome there next year.

My projects are on hold - a real problem is that it was my failure to take the medication that caused most of my problems, but the medication leaves me depressed and lazy, as in would rather watch old movies then do something.

If I don't take the medication I want to work, but get sick after a few days, but if I do take the medication I don't want to get off the couch. A catch 22 sort of thing.

Anyway, I am here.

Glad to hear that you're ok Clint. Take the meds until another solution arises! Talk to the doc about changing meds and trying something else that doesn't have the same adverse affect on you, or maybe supplement meds or something to boost energy. Maybe a vitamin regiment or something.
Stay well friend, T

Hey Clint, hope you are getting well. I had the distinct impression that you were not feeling all that great on the way back from Rattlesnake, especially when you attenuated your plans and just wanted to get home. Sorry you have been having a tough time.

Was the heating problem in the van cured? I expect you went through some weather after we said goodbye in Tahoe.

Hang in there and be well.

I am OK now, but the van still runs hot. Found a bargain on a radiator but didn't feel like driving that far to pick it up - I will find one closer to home.

What year van do you have? Will a 73 F250 radiator fit in there? I have a large tank radiator that came out of my old 73 that you can have, if you want it. Not new by any means, and may need a touch of sodder in one corner but the coolant flows well. Never had a problem with it in the truck it came out of.
Not sure if it is compatible with your van. But let me know if it might help any or if you want it.

Tim, thanks, but no thanks. I can get exactly what I need in Placerville - which I would have to drive through to get to your place. I will get my act together and head that way one of these days.

Guy has a 2 month old radiator out of a van exactly like mine for $65 - makes it worth the trip!
