uneven bed

I have a 1975 ford 150 long bed having a problem with the rear end driver side of the bed is higher than the rear end passender side anybody might know what it might be. I'm thinking its something with the leafsprings, any experts out there to help me with this

Hello- Welcome to FTE! Check out the list of tech forums we have on FTE. There is a wealth of information and expertise here to help you. There are a number of links in my sig below to help you also. Have fun!

Measure the axle to frame distance all around to see if springs are the problem. Many times an uneven bed is caused by the bed mounting rusting out or the frame rusting out and breaking.

I have the same problem, and what I found to be the problem one side is a 6 leaf spring and the other is an 8 leaf spring. I got hopes to swap them out for a matching set.

Look closely in the lower (driver side) rear of the bed. If you have any rust in there at the corner, the bed can settle down and leave it uneven. Sometimes cased by campers left in place a long time, where the bedsides are not locked together by a taligate for long periods. They can sway slightly from side to side, thereby loosening the welds, or a weak spot from rust will appear. It can be adjusted by welding angle brackets in place in the corner at the bottom of the box, but the box side mustbe jacked up higher than neded before welding, so it will 'settle' in place after welding. This is a temporary fix only.

But check suspension first, like mentioned above.
