Unibody differences between SWB and LWB
I have a newly aquired '62 unibody short bed and wonder if anyone here knows how the long beds differ. On 'normal' '61 to '66 trucks, the body contour or styling line slopes along the bottom side of the hood and cowl, into the doors, then curves or dips under the mirror area on the doors and then straightens out across the rest of the door and cab, and continues along the bed on wide bed models. On unibodies, the slope continues all across the door and runs sloping downward to near the tail lights on the attached bed. How did Ford accommodate different bed lengths? Different end caps or tail light housings (whatever the rear corner pieces of a bed are called)? Just curious now that I have one. Thanks for any help.
