EGT's on a Powerstroke

i replaced the stock injectors in my 1997 Powerstroke with injectors out of a 1999-2003 powerstroke. those are the split shot type. i have now noticed that the EGT's are about 200-300 degrees hotter than before. what could i do to lower the EGT's that wont cost a fortune?

i also noticed that the trans is shifting much harder and the trans temp. gets hot quick. it wants to climb past 250 degrees. does anyone know what might cause this?

how much boost can you put out of the stock turbo on a 1997 Powerstroke?

i have heard that if you go over 42-44 PSI that you will lift the heads off of the motor. is this true?

250 degrees on the transmission? I'd say you screwed something else up while doing the injectors... that temp generally means death to your Torqshift.

42-44PSI boost will certainly blow the heads off the motor. Mine, in stock configuration (no chip/tuner), managed to do it. I believe Matt (PSD 60L Fx4) indicated that boost much past 38PSI was counterproductive anyway.

What kind of tuning did you have done to accomodate those split shots?

You need custom tuning to run those split shots. That's why your egt's are going crazy. Edge Evo won't cut it, your timing is off with the new injectors. You need to contact Jody at DP-Tuner.

http://www.dp-tuner.com/

And FYI, all the site sponsors are on the left hand side, including DP-Tuner.

just make sure you look for some of the info yourself, there are many members that will direct you to use the SEARCH FUNCTION

there is a section dedicated to the Powerstroke diesel engines: 7.3 and 6.0

your stock garret turbo is good for around 17 psi stock. and 25psi max. never get in the 40s with a stock unit
