My Tymar air intake system performs very well.

I also purchased my powershot 2000 propane system from Dale. He gave very good advice and was most helpful in tank selection and mounting.

I have seen his name tossed around quite a bit on here. I have a 96 F350 we use to haul hay/cattle. Was considering putting one of his downpipes/off-road pipes and intakes on this truck. Any comments on fit/function? Am thinking of putting a Superchips 1705 on truck also.

1997 - What brand and why do you say that? What's wrong with the Superchips? I'm not looking to make a drag racer, just pull a little better. The truck routine grosses between 28k to 32k, I just want a little more torque without affecting longevity.

cfpinz, He says that to save you some money down the road. There is nothing wrong with superchips. That's how I started. But I soon realized that the custom chip that I could switch on the fly was really what I wanted. And if you are consistently pulling that much, I would seriously concider gauges to monitor temps before putting on any kind of power adder. Just my .02

Duck, already got a set of banks guages, just haven't had time to put them in yet. Do most folks prefer to put the pyro in the ext manifold or in the downpipe, I've heard both tales? I like the idea of the superchips because I don't have to go into the computer. Seems the less you mess with the electronics on a vehicle the less trouble they give you in the long run.

cf, do yourself a favor, install the gauges. Not only are they fun to look at, but they somewhat help to keep you out of trouble. And by all means, put the pyro probe in the exhast manifold. I don't know how you feel about that, but don't look at it like "oh man, that's gonna be a pain". It is super easy. The exhaust manifold is suprisingly easy to drill and tap. Jack up the driverside front tire, put it on a jack stand. lay under the truck behind the driverside front wheel. Look up at the exhaust manifold. Right there where it meets the up pipe is the best place to do it. There's a nice little flat spot there about 1" in front of the joint between the two pipes. Take a center punch, make your divit. Put safety glasses on. Get your correct drill size, or you can pre drill small. and work up. Have shop vac handy. Which ever drill bit you start with, repeat this process until the hole is tapped....... Start drilling your hole, if you have ever drilled anything, you know you can feel when the bit is about to go through. Slow down the drill, real slow. Let it work it's way through slowly. Take shop vac, hold the hose up to the hole. That will get all if any little chunks out. Start tapping the hole...half a turn once started, back out, half a turn, back out. Remember, don't run the tap all the way in, it's tapered. You just want to get a little more than the tip all the way through. And use pleanty of WD 40. I would cut a thread or two, back all the way out, vac, spray WD on the tap, go again until you are happy with it. Vac again and start the engine without the probe in. That way anything left will come out the hole. And trust me after taking those measures to get shavings out, whatever is left won't hurt the turbo a bit. I've had several turbos apart and a small sliver of metal will go right past those tungsten fins no problem. So don't worry about it. And in my opinion there is no reason to grease the drill bits if you just go slow and vac the hole.

And if you like the superchips man, do it. I promise you will enjoy it. But trust me the gauges, tuner, with the grin on your face from the new power........ALWAYS, NOT SOMETIMES, ALWAYS leads to P.M.S. Powerstroke Mod Syndrome. And brother, we will all be here to help you spend your money, and enjoy your new stuff as much as you do. We live for this, PERIOD. Long story short, do what you feel comfortable with, when your ready to come to the dark diesel smoke side, we will welcome you with open arms.

All jokes aside, I hope that helped some. Let us know how it goes. I'm out!!

Duck, thanks for the advice. I do maint work in my off-farm job so drilling the manifold doesn't bother me a bit. Is it a pipe tap or bolt thread? I just have the guages so I need to pick up the probe and wires yet. Did you use any sealant or never-sieze on the threads? I imagine the superchips will be enough, I'm a tight-wad and don't follow the bigger-is-better mentality. Thanks again.

Definitly go with the Tymar. I did exhaust and intake and they work great. The tap for the pyro is pipe thread.
