hey cfpinz, it wouldnt hurt to put a little high temp never cheese (sieze) on the threads of your new probe, just to ease disassembly later on, if you have to. good luck man!!

No, don't tap all the way through. No sealant is needed.

RD hit the nail on the head. nothing wrong with the scmt. just seen so many times on here someone bought a tuner of some sort and later kick themselves. just trying to give you an informed answer. the tuners are great also due to the code reading capability also good power.

You certainly can't go wrong buying anything from Dale at TYMAR, as he is one of the original OBS guys who started modding when the Powerstroke first came out. He definitely knows his stuff, sells at a competitive price or less, and will spend LOTS of time with you on installing anything you purchase from him. Honest as they come!

Now, I agree...gauges are essential these days after any modifications, so you know where the danger levels are, and to drive accordingly.
Regarding the Superchips tuner...lets just say hundreds (if not more) have opted to buy these tuners, and found after a while they just where not up to par with a switchable (on the fly) programmed chip. Yes, they will give you a decent power addition, but the switchable multi-program chip is expandable to either generic codes, or custom ones, being more power for the $$ spent!
For this reason, there are tuners galore in the for sale sections of most truck forums, or on Ebay.
Opening up the intake by adding a TYMAR and an after market downpipe will allow your engine to finally breathe, and adding a 4" exhaust at some point will further help.
Of course, the OBS trucks with the Powerstroke can only get "so-much" fuel, as the injectors are quite small in relation to what is available these days, or what the later 7.3 Powerstrokes came out with. To find good power, additional fuel is needed, but to burn that fuel efficiently...you of course need more "intake" air (TYMAR) then a decent downpipe to rid yourself of that burned fuel...and on and on. Of course "programming" as mentioned above all goes into the equation as well.

Add to this a high pressure oil pump that gives more volume...helps some more, and an IDM mod throws more volts to the injectors, add an intercooler to cool the air charge....so as you can see, the evolution of modifications seems endless, and it all comes down to...what HP rating do you figure you'll finally be happy with!

Give Dale at TMYAR a call, and he can fill you in on his opinion on mods, and they will parallel ours here quite closely.
