Hi there, I have a 96 explorer 5.0 and my inertia switch aka fuel pump shut-off switch is located under the passengerside carpeting right up against the wall--inside the rig not under the hood. In fact when my switch literally melted--all the diagnostic testing I did pointed to the fuel pump being out because you couldn't hear it kick on inside the tank and the rig just wouldn't start. Replaced the switch and no problems since. Good Luck!
Yep that's it, red button--reset it, but also eyeball the wires going to it. When mine melted it "looked" just fine until I pulled the carpet back a bit and the wires were all fried. I was able to replace just the switch by splicing into the next section of good wires in there--bit spendy though just for the switch.
yes the check engine light comes on but its been on, it could be cause of tranny, o2 sensor? ive been told i was just going to check voltage in and out of switch then at pump itself, just need to know what color power wire is or does it matter
