I'm wondering just how swell a shop is doing this work for you. I think they should be smart enough and prideful enough to figure out how to fix it without dumping the problem on you.
Did I misunderstand something here? Did you (or someone else) install the flip kit? Is this shop the "low bidder"?
I installed the kit on the hood and took my truck to the shop for them to replace the rusted front of the hood, and then align and test fit the front cap. When they finish with the alignment they are going to start with the body work on the cab and then hopefully be ready to paint. The body man has built some street rods before, so I think that he has tried tweaking the adjustments to come up with a good fit. I told him the other day that I thought that the roller and track needed another design, and he agreed. I am hoping that he can look at my drawings and maybe come up with something that will work. Hopefully one of these days I can get enough photos together and start on my gallery so that you can see what I am working on.
Did anyone have a chance to look at their right front fender at the edge of the hood/cab.. mine has small turn out. The left side doesn't
Sam
Both of my 56 front fenders have that little turnout in the gap area between hood and fender. It is what makes the gap between them too wide. I haven't seen a fender that doesn't have it. But I have seen hoods that fill it pretty well.
Both of my fenders have the turn out gap as well. I really don't recall seeing any fenders that did not have the gap. I would think that they were designed that way so when the hood was raised and closed it would not touch the fenders.
If you take that left fender off and discover the difference, would you post some pictures to show it? I'd like some more ideas about how to regap mine.
Looks to me like the where the fender meets the cab it was formed too wide
I would take it off slice out about 3/8 of an inch along the seam weld it back together
that will fix it in the back. The front should have enough adjustment to move over and make a nice straight gap.
