torque converter? hesitation

Everything under the hood of my swapped out 351w has been rebuilt or replaced new in my 70 f-100. Timing is good and no vac leaks. It hesitates off the line and when I back my trailer up it really seems to grunt alot. The cam is just a little bigger than stock with more duration. 4-v edelbrock 600cfm. w/ performer 351w intake. I thought about swapping out the metering rods according to the specifications given in the owners manual for the carb. Other than that I was thinking about the torque converter. It is mounted to a c-6 that came out of a 85 or 86 van. I got the tranny w/converter from the bone yard. There it is what do you think?

70 T I have hesitation upon acceleration with my 66 PU 5.0/aod and i was thinking maybe the torque converter was to blame. Maybe someone can explain what symtoms to expect or what they have seen when a torque converter is failing. thanks for any ideas
