Okay, but it seems to me than mine idles above the 1000 rmp. I'll go outside now and verify it to be sure. It's plenty cold enough..about low teens and the truck has been sitting for a couple hours now since it was last run. Be back soon with the findings.
But otherwise, thank you for the info. Looks like I may have a use for one of my upfitter switches.

Well, from what I understand ! The 6.0L is a whole different animal from the 7.3L (turbo, egr, programing). I had a 7.3 as well and its like learning diesel all over again for me.

Just removed my EGR again to clean it due to an idle surge. Found the valve stuck open slightly.

I cleaned the carbon out from around the valve but the valve would not spring closed on its own this time.

My EGR valve pintle shaft is stuck where the shaft goes into the EGR body.

I manually closed the valve and reinstalled it. Maybe someday the valve will be replaced.
