Timing problem
I just recently put a new timing chain set on my 88 Ford Ranger that has a 2.9l v6. now when i un plug the module to set the timing. the motor will turn over but won't run. when i plug the modul back in it start up and run. The module and the pick up coil is new so is the coil.. just wondering does it sound like the computer gone bad ?

Where are you unplugging? The spout connector is located inline in the wiring harness between the engine and body, it should be hanging out of the wire loom and be a simple "wire loop" in a plug. Anything else you unhook will probably cause the truck to not run, the spout just disables the electronic timing advance.
