Yes I was wandering what is a good gear for my 1992 I6 300 I have 308s now and it is how should i say !!!! not what i like! e40d and 373 is this too much? Thanks ger-mikes
I don't have A/C - and the truck is carbureted. I'm also thinking of throwing in the chevy rockers as well...
You don't do both a new cam and the cheby lifters... you'd wind up with too much lift. The lifter trick is simply a cheap/easy way of boosting performance a notch without having to do a full blown cam swap. It's a mild but noticable bump, yet nothing approaching the results of a new split profile cam.
I sold the truck to a friend six months ago and got a 97 Powerstroke. I like that I can drive 600 miles at a stretch before needing fuel. I do miss the ride of the 150 though!
Gey89f250, I put this cam in with the crane reccomended lifters keeping the stock carb. I put a new head on and the engine just happened to have been bored .40 over. I dont think that had much affect, however, I am very pleased with the results. I pull a fairley large boat and it tools down the highway with no problem. The timing is set at 12* and it runs great. The power band is best around 50-65 MPH, when I get on it it responds right away, surprises most people. I have a c6 transmission so its not the speed demon, but it will pull anything at highway speed with no problems. I would highly recomend this cam, its not too expensive and the stock springs on the valves should be able to handle the additional lift. Remember this cam profile will almost double your lift and duration so if the head is real old I would consider getting the springs checked and or replaced. Didnt do anything with the exhaust yet. This particular cam will be able to handle many more upgrades with out havign to be replaced. And do use the reccomended Rottella t oil, great old school product
