I am noticing in the past year that my front end is coming down, I am sure of it cause my 2 front wheels have cambered in out of control it has even worn the inside of my tires right down to the belts .... so my question is what is my best solution to take care of this problem at hand?
the truck is a 2001 F350 PSD crew cab long box DRW, 2 wheel drive, no plow
Check your ball joints. Raise the truck one side at a time, push and pull on the top and bottom of the wheels, see if you can get them to wobble ANY. If they do, then the joints are bad and need to be replaced. These trucks have the solid front axles, so it can not be a saggy leaf spring condition. My classmate has an '86 F-250 with saggy springs, and since he has that split axle design, he has some serious negative camber issues. I am helping him fix it in class. I am also learning about the chassis part of the trucks now, steering and drive in particular. I do know that other than bad joints causing exessive play, camber is unadjustable without a caster/camber shim for the upper balljoint.
EDIT- i see you have a 2wd, and not a solid front axle 4wd. do you have the two opposing arms that make up the front axle? Twin I beams if i am correct? Worn springs cause that problem if the beams pivot in an arc.
Well, if your front end is coming down, and the tires are increasing in negative camber, your coil springs are "sprung" as we call it. New springs should remedy the problem.
