Motorcraft spark plugs?
Surely Ford would make this blanket recommendation for obvious reasons, but is this an absolute must? Are there real reasons, or is this the preference of those posting?
It's not that I have any quarrel with Motorcraft parts, I was just wondering.

sure some of the guys have used other brands and had good luck, but staying with the oem you know it's correct heat range for the motor. and as a word of a problem i personaly had ,i put those fancy named early double tip plugs in a merc out board so called correct for the motor by the company .i found they ran so hot that they burned a hole in each of the 6 pistons in 3 hours of running on a brand new rebuild useing forged pistons .
work wise i have found some of the platneum multitiped will cause cold running problems others will cause a hot running problem, so if you like to change plugs have fun trying each brand,if you don't stay stock.
then changing plugs on a v10 is not that easy of a job, so when i did mine way early due to a mild missfire most likely from all of the racing and dyno pulls on the motor. i installed the autolight number for my 05 v10 in the stock style and heat range, still as a person who was a dealer tech for 42 years total. it took me 3 hours to do them, none stop with all the needed tools right there, care to do it more then one time at 2 to 3 hours each time to play with plug brands?
They are the correct heat range, they are cheap, they are platinum tipped, they are now nickle plated.....
There is no compelling reason to change type or brand unless you have a highly modified motor that needs a hotter or colder plug
Bottom line for a stock motor is they are the best bang for the buck
One of the reasons I did not change to Bosch was the info here and on the diesel site that mentioned that fact...pity too because I am a big fan of the Bosh Platinum Plus plug...
In 1986 I bought a Nissan 86.5 "hard-body" micro truck with the VG30ET motor a NA throttle body injected 3.0L v6... at the time the Bosh plug was a very expensive $4.50 each...a local Pep-boys had a few cases of them marked for $1.75 each... I bought 12 after asking if the price was correct...annoyed counter monkey said "of course they are ...every thing in the store is properly marked"
Put them in at 21,000 miles, still have the second set.... 20 years and 386,000 miles later this truck is still on the road with the first set in and she starts first time every time....
Some days I wonder if I got the Bosh plug and set the gap smaller if the mis-fire phenomenon would go away in the V-10
Naw, I am content with the MotorCraft, they work just fine.... on this motor I have no intention of zero plug changes for life of the motor
even VW who use bosch and ngk plugs, some of the specail single and multi p tip bosch just would cause to many problems in any vw engine, replace them with a stock tip/style and the motor would run great.
i also am a bosch fan. but only of the stock style heat range thats correct for the motor.
The reason I was asking this in the first place was because I have used Autolite plugs for as long as I have owned Fords, going on 20 years (yeh, it took a while before my father-in-law got me into the fold).
So my question is answered and I was thinking right all along.
Thanks all..........

still today the same company makes both brands with just different markings. you will not go wrong useing the correct autolight number in your trucks motor. put both brands side by side not look at the markings .bet you can't tell which is which.
