I've been researching for the best replacement spark plugs for my 95 Explorer 4.0L 4wd. The results were that Motorcraft ASWF-42PP works the best. Not able to find the plugs in stock at my local auto supply store, I went to a Ford Dealer. They also did NOT have the ASWF-42PP in stock, he recommended Motorcraft AGSF-42FMF6.
Has anyone out there use(d) AGSFM-42FMF6 on their explorer?
Do you recomment these plugs?
Bosch is the same product line so just go to Autozone (or any parts store and get the OEM equilivent of the bosch brand--I think they are the double platinum-worked for me) and a ford dealer will Take your wallet over the coals

I agree, I change the Bosch single electrode plats in my 87 2.9 & 95 3.0 every 90 K. They always look so good, im tempted to leave them in longer. I see NGK now has irridium plugs on their web site. Less money & supposedly better than the platinums.

I actually have a set in my garage. They will be going in this weekend when I get done with the cam swap. I'll let you know how they do after a test run...

It will be interesting to see how they work for you. Theres a thread at the Hyundai cnnection on this. A guy was asking if the NGK V-groove would be the best bet for better MPG in his 4 banger Elantra. Duke/the moderator & a tech at a dealership in Canada had this to say: "The V-groove does not give you a double spark, it merely ensures a clear spark launch point if one tip is somewhat contaminated. We now install the newly available NGK iridium plug, which withstands higher combustion temp, ignites a leaner mixture better than platinum, and is cheaper with a longer life span." Sounds pretty good.
I've had them for about a year now. I bought them when I ordered my plugs for my jet skis and boats (I buy them in bulk). I saw them on their site then, and thought I would try them. They have been sitting in the garage ever since.
Whatever you do, stay away from Bosch, they DO NOT run well with Ford's EDIS!!!! The AGSF42FMF6 is Motorcraft's new "fine wire" platinum plug. I am running these in my
3.0L Ranger now, and they run well!!!!! This is the very
best plug for your 4.0L!!!
Bob.... what sort of problems did you see with the Bosch plugs. I just installed a set this weekend and now that I see this I'm starting to think that was a mistake.

I think there is a heat range problem with the Bosch. I have a 3.0L FFV Ranger, that the previous owner had installed Bosch (at only 36K miles), and it developed a real
bad mis, when under load at a low RPM. I replaced the Bosch with Motorcrafts, and this cured the mis problem.
All I use in my gasoline Mercedes is Bosch, and they run great!!! But I only use Motorcrafts in my Fords!!!!!
Bosch and MotorCraft are made in the same factory, using the same materials--So you had a bad plug. Motorcraft are sold by the dealers and some parts distributors, or they have the OEM equilivant which would be Bosch.

NOT TRUE!!!!
Motorcraft and Autolite are both made by Honeywell, a division of Allied Signal.....
