Dash rattle help needed

I have a 2002 F350 supercrew. It has about 56K miles on it. Lately when I am parked idleing, there is a rattle coming from the dash near the passengers side defroster duct. If I push down on the top of the dash it stops. It only does it during idle.
There are what appears to be 3 covers across the dash near the windshield. Do these cover up some type of bolt holding the dash down? Does anybody know how to tighten the dash? I took the radio out and there is no way to get to this area from behind the radio. Hate to stuff cardboard in there to get it to stop if I can do it right. Any help appreciated!!

With the springclips common to today's manufacturing techniques, I doubt there is a way to "tighten" the dash, unless you take it all apart and bend the clips to provide more clamping power. But the process of the removal of the dash will probably negate any potential benefit.

In my, and other's 2005 or 2006 Mustangs (which a common problem is a noisy dash) the solution has been:

-Take a roll of electrical tape.
-unroll and cut a small piece off.
-fold up the piece into a small rectangle or square. Stick this under the panel where the rattle is. Make the piece thicker with more wraps if needed.

Makes a pretty inconspicuous fix that is cheap and easy. Especially on the darker dash or trim pieces... Works great between the fascia and dash of the pickups! Just pry up the fascia a bit and shove the pice in there. Not too thick or a "wave" will show in the fascia.

Good Luck, it can be a very annoying thing!

Those covers are removable. I installed the LED for my alarm in the center one. I just used an angled pick to pop it off.
If I remember correctly (no small feat from all that youthful clean living) there is a bolt under them. Seems like the logical place to start if you have a rattle there. If that doesn't solve it, the defroster duct might have wiggled loose.
Only three ways to solve your problem: 1. from the top tightening those bolts and 2. behind the glovebox to tighten up ducting 3. Radio Volume

Hopefully the bolts on top will solve you problem.

Good luck, dash rattles can drive you nuts!
