np205 thunk

For those of you with 205s, do they usually have a lil bit of play in them, enough to hear it clunk going from forward to reverse? Mine clunks, but doesnt make any kind of noise. It does leak out the rear, but other than that it seems ok. Is this norm, or is somthi8ng going out?

I have one in my 76 hiboy but i have never heard a clunk it doesn't even grind when i put it in 4 hi or 4 lo. Mine doesn't have any play that i know of.

Never heard any grinding, whining or anything, just a "thunk", like a bad u joint, but it comes from the case. It doesnt do it when in 4wd, or 4 lo though.

Unless you take it apart and look i don't what else you can do but just keep a eye or in this case a ear on it.

Check your rear axle for play. My guess is you have a bad rear axle or drive shaft issues.

did you check to make sure the case to adapter bolts are tight?205s are tuff but there could be something bad inside.could be the centering yoke in the cv.
