"Clunk" when I put my C6 in gear and NP205 leak

When I put my 79 Bronco in Gear (C6 tranny) it goes clunk and then its fine until I take it out of gear and then put it back in again like when going from D to R. Also my "bullet proof" NP205 is leaking a bit of oil out the back where the drive shaft goes in. Can I fix that and how. Thanks for the help.

The "clunk" you speak of sounds like it's the U-joints going out. Jack up the back, secure your truck on jack stands, put your tranny in N, climb under the truck and twist the drive shaft while feeling for play.

The rear output shaft seal on the 205 is easy to replace. Just get yourself a new one, pry out the old one, install new.

Ah yes,the famous Automatic clunk.

Try what I did.
Take a 1/2 hand full of high temp wheel bearing grease and pack it in the receiving splines at the front of the driveshaft.
This will take the annoying clunk out and won't hurt anything else.
