Sometime it does, sometimes it doesn't. Put the pedal to the floor & nothing happens; let off & do it again & it smokes the tires. Connections @ the pedal assy are tight. Any suggestions? Please don't say HPOP....2002 7.3 Excursion. I doubt this would have any bearing but it did just get a new tranny. The wife is parked in a parking garage with it and is afraid to try to leave!
It is a fly-by-wire so to speak assembly. No throttle cable. If the potentiometer in it is shot you will need a new one. Let me guess, starts fine for the most part, all it does is idle, correct?
Starts perfect. Even goes down the road. I drove it yesterday and it had no problems at all. The problem is intermittent. Where is the potentiometer? How much do it cost? Thanks for the quick reply too! I gotta take the son to football practice so i'll check back later. Thanks again!
Alan, I thought I read several faults in the manual that would result in an idle only condition. I hate to dig. I don't remember the intermittant start part. Bail me out, I'm trying to drink beer. What a PITA today was at work.
Sounds like your in for a new throttle pedal assembly. About 157.00 at the dealer a couple of 10mm bolts and 10 minutes of your time. Easy fix if indeed it is that.
Do you have adjustable pedals on the EX?.I am not sure about the Excursions but our 2002 SD had a recall on the go pedal. Had it fixed way back in late 2002 or 2003. May want to check that out also.....
