302 wiring

Can someone PLEASE refer me to a sourse where I can find a good ignition wiring diagram for my 302 with solid state ignition. I am having problems keeping it running properly. I think that I am going to have to completely rewire it and I want to do it right. I,m pretty simple minded , so it would good if it was also simple. The 302 is in a 65 Ranchero and I dont have a clue how its suppose to be wired. Just the engine wiring is all I need. Thanks in advance fellas, Roy.

You might have better luck posting it over there or even in the electrical forum.

Roy,

Look in my gallery at the last picture in the album entitled "the beginning". There is an electrical diagram there of mid 60s Ford wiring system that may help.

Thanks guys for the comeback on my 302, Vern, quite a project you have going there and that diagram was what I was looking for. Been so long since I have fooled around with this stuff. Found out why the 302 wouldnot start, the voltage reg. burned out and it took the solid state module with it. I have and idea that the old wiring had something to do with that. And Bobby, thanks to you too. Later, Roy.

Roy,

Be careful putting the new parts in. If I remember correctly you need to make sure you have the battery disconnected or ground something while holding your tongue just right on the third saturday of the month while swinging a chicken in a counterclockwise manner by its left foot or some nonsense like that or you;ll fry the new module.

Don't quote me on this...its been several years and I've wiped out alot of brain cells during that time.

Good luck with it
Bobby

Just dumb luck I guess Bobby, with no instructions in the box I installed the modual and it works fine. I better find what caused it to crash in the first place though. ( maybe that fire I started on top of the engine caused it) Anyway , got the fuel tank cleaned, looks very good. Also got the radiator overhauled and I guess I,m on the way. Thanks for the guidance guys. Roy

Whoa...Hold on there. The chicken has to be swung clockwise.....I can't stress that enough...always clockwise...except in the southern hemisphere..then it must go counterclockwise of course

Roy,

Glad I could help. I hope to get my "project" moving and stopping on it's own power next spring.
