When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
The other thing that's been happening (to me) lately is that I'll click a link, then it will take me to a page that is completely blank except for an advertisement. I have to click my "back" button to get to the page I requested.
No need for a work chit, this site is slower because it is a database not static pages like most web sites. It is also a bigger database than almost any site out there with more users. If the system seems to hang go work on your truck for a few or read your email.
No need to worry about losing a post, in all the years I have been on here I can count on one hand all of the posts I have "lost". If you have written a tome just copy it to your clipbook. If the site goes down then paste it into a notepad file, save it, and post later. I have done this a number of times but only had to use the saved file once.
As far as my computer crashing because of FTE, -Never. That would be a user computer problem. I have crashed my computer because of incompatible software and the operating system. I have also been unable to access or read FTE because of outdated software. I tend not to cause myself problems by updating too often. It seems many "updates" are problems waiting to happen so I only do it when I have a problem.
The sticky posts are being written into tech articles by professionals. I think they could have been left up while that was done but it was not my decision to make. Some of them are close to completion.
