Electrical problems 1995 F250

I've been searching this very informative site but can't come up with a good answer to my problems so I figured I'd try posting...

I have a 1995 F250 that has a couple gremlins:

1. The gas gauge doesn't seem to be accurate for either of the two gas tanks. It does move toward 'Full' when the key is turned on but doesn't really tell me how much fuel is remaining as I burn off some petrol.

2. The lights in the gauge cluster don't work. I can turn the dimmer **** to make the overhead light click on but the dimmer portion of it obviously does not work since the lights aren't working. Makes night driving difficult.

I've checked fuses inside the cabin and they all seem to be fine. How can I determine if it's just a bulb in the gauge cluster? Does it sound like I just need new sending units in the tanks?

Thanks ahead of time for you responses!

For the fuel guage problem you can do a test;

Unplug the wires on the tank and find the ones for the sending unit(yellow/blue?). Take a short scrap piece of wire, stuff one end int he connector so it touches the sending unit wire, and with the key in run, touch the other end of the scrap wire to a good shiny ground on the frame. Then take the wire off the frame and let it hang in the air.

Everytime you take the wire on and off ground, the guage shoudl swing full scale back and forth. You can also do this same test for the rear tank if you switch tanks. If this works, then you know the wiring and the guage are good, and it is probably the sending unit in the tank.

For the dash lights, take the headlight switch out. With it plugged in, turn the headlights on, and see if you have voltage on the blue/red wire coming out of the switch. If you don't, the headlight switch is bad.

Right Power window doesnt work, Horn not working

I have a 1995 Ford f250, for some reason panic alarm activated one time and after I noticed my horn didnt work so i checked, there was no power to the steering wheel at all, no power to horn relay, no power to right power window and left power window works most of the time but there is also times where none of power windows work, checked the fuses inside and outside they are good If anybody has any idea of what this might be would really appreciate.

This panic alarm is aftermarket? Hard to say what's wrong with it, aftermarket alarm systems are a messy install, and hard to diagnose since there are no diagrams for it.
