heater hose

I am installing a SVO conversion on my 88 IDI and I need to know which heater hose is going which way. Is the one going into the heads going towards the heater coil or out of it?

I may be wrong, but the one from the water pump should be the flow in. Don't recall which one is larger, but that would be the one going in I think.

into the core, sorry... In a lot of ways, it really isn't going to matter much, as the coolant maintains temp pretty good, doubt the core exchange drops the temp much.

Actually it does b/c my fuel heater has an in and an out, but I can't see why that matters, but I'm scared to hook it up backwards, so I'm going to make sure its right.

Water comes out of the head to the heater core and then returns to the water pump.

Thanks, we figured it out, plus we also found out that the water goes through both hoses even when the heater core is off, there is a gate, not a valve there. Which made the whole thing a million times easier to do.

Dave gave you the correct answeres as usual. I have 11.5K miles on WVO since June.

Usualy the reason it matters on fuel heaters is that the want the heated coolant running the opposit way as the fuel. Hottest at the engine not at the tank.

Where are you from ?I am in Central NY. It was 28* here this morning and I was able to maintain 160* on my fuel temp within 2 miles of changing over. I have both a pressure/bost gauge and a temp. gauge in my fuel line just before the IP.
