back flushing radiator

I just bought an '01 F150 4.2L and I want to know if it is really necessary to back flush the cooling system when changing the coolant? I bought the Prestone back flush kit and I'm wondering if really needs to be back flushed or if regular flushing is good enough.

Not sure which one would be best, but just be sure to use distilled water. Hard water gave me some trouble a few years back. Maybe someone else will give an opinion on the backflushing, sorry.

I'm not sure that it is "necessary". Probably can't hurt, but don't know for sure if it will help either.
I have only down a regular flush and refill.
As mentioned: use distilled water.
